Janine O'Neill FNP joined Garfield Family Practice in April of 2014. She is a Nationally Accredited Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, and provides care to people of all ages. She cares for all patients in our practice and is also qualified to be a sole primary care provider. She completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Oakland University's School of Nursing in Rochester Michigan. She further completed courses through OU's Honors College.
She started her career as an Emergency/Trauma RN in 2007 at McLaren Macomb. She returned to school for graduate degree, that now allows her to practice as a Nurse Practitioner. After leaving the ER, she worked in a local pediatric office as an NP before joining the Garfield Family Practice. She works closely with our physicians to provide the best care possible for all of our patients.
Nurse practitioners (NP) provide much of the same care as physicians. NP's manage all kinds of medical conditions, and are qualified to diagnose medical problems and gynecological issues, order treatments, perform wellness exams and women's health exams, perform advanced procedures, prescribe medications, and make referrals for a wide range of health conditions. Concentrating on a holistic approach to patient care, they emphasize health promotion, patient education/counseling, and disease prevention which can sometimes mean fewer prescriptions and less expensive treatments over the span of your life.
